The ex-national footballer, who has managed Bath City since 2017, hinted that he could be interested in taking on the challenge at Hereford. He said: “Hereford is a club I’ve admired from afar for a long time. It has a superb fan base and huge potential. “I think it will be the perfect fit and my experience would work great.” The 53‑year‑old’s coaching career stretches back to 2009, when he worked as a Community Football Development Coach at Birmingham City. He has since earned a reputation for developing young talent, most notably current Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo. Antoine Semenyo goal and celebration. (Image: Richard Crease) Gill played a key role in the attacker’s early progression before the Ghanaian international eventually completed a stunning £62.5 million move from Bournemouth to Manchester City in January. Mr Gill told the National League: ““He was 18 when he came to us, and he was different in a lot of ways to the teenagers who come on loan from EFL clubs, “It makes me chuckle now, scoring goals for Pep Guardiola at one of the biggest clubs in the world.” The talent spotter’s interest comes after Hereford FC confirmed Paul Caddis’ departure in a surprise announcement released on social media, bringing his time at Edgar Street to an abrupt end after just two and a half years. The decision was announced following last night’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at AFC Telford United. With Hereford rooted near the bottom of the National League North and currently without a manager, fans may wish for Semenyo to make an apperance if Gill gets the new title. The Bulls have managed just one win in their last 14 league matches, leaving them nine points adrift of safety in the National League North. After a long spell without a fixture, Hereford were back in action against AFC Telford United yesterday (10 February) but it was more disappointment on the road, falling to a 3–0 defeat.
