AI Assisted reporterNew subscription-based garden waste collection service coming to Herefordshire (Image: Newsquest) A new subscription-based garden waste collection service is launching to help residents manage their green waste more easily. Herefordshire Council’s £60-a-year service will begin in March 2026 and will replace the current scheme, which uses single-use plastic sacks. Subscriptions opened on October 22. Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, said: “We have made every effort to ensure the new service is simple, affordable, better for the environment and supports our commitment to a more sustainable Herefordshire.” Depending on space, residents will receive either a wheelie bin or reusable sacks. The waste will be collected every two weeks, except for a two-week break at Christmas, and composted into soil improver, which will be available to buy at local recycling centres. Residents who sign up before 9am on December 1 will be entered into a prize draw. Ten winners will receive a free annual subscription to the garden waste service. Visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk to sign up. EnvironmentLocal government
