Now in its third year, the awards have become well-known within the travel industry. The list, which spans 22 destinations across six continents, is compiled from the votes of more than 800 anonymous experts. This includes a mix of hoteliers, travel writers, educators and frequent travellers, with each asked to nominate the stays that impressed them most in the past two years. Estelle Manor was ranked 47th and was one of five entries in the list from the UK, while Asia dominated with 20 selections. A statement from the ranking said: “This retreat in rural Oxfordshire bears the atmosphere of a classy members’ club thanks to a combination of eccentric, rural English interiors and a buzz that feels both discreet and sociable. “Each of its 108 rooms are individually styled, with velvet, brass and marble leading the design aesthetic.”
