Senior ReporterRosemary Rigby ‘gave up’ her significant birthday to raise money for the minibus (Image: Supplied) FUNDRAISER Rosemary Rigby has ‘given up’ on birthdays but chose her significant 90th to raise money for a cause close to her heart. She threw an open invitation to everyone to come and celebrate her special date at The Pilgrim’s Rest. Awarded an MBE for her charity work she has spent six decades volunteering for the Ross Action Committee and wanted to raise money for their minibus service. The funds will ensure that the volunteers can transport the housebound, blind, elderly, and disabled people of Ross-on-Wye and the district. To celebrate her birthday, Miss Rigby asked those who want to wish her many happy returns to join her at the Pilgrim in Much Birch on Saturday, January 10. Rosemary was thrilled with the turnout in what turned out to be very harsh weather. “It was very icy and cold so it was so nice of people to turn up and I also had so many bunches of flowers which is very kind. We are still adding up the money but it is at least £500 and people can still give money for this important service.” Rosemary also fundraises for the Royal National Institute for the Blind, and works as the curator of the Violette Szabo museum at her home in Wormelow “I want to say thank you so much to everyone who was generous. They can still donate too.” CharityHistoryPeople
