Paul Caddis’ side have played just nine home league games this season due – six less than some of their league opponents. Heavy overnight rain resulted in their scheduled match on Tuesday night against Oxford City was postponed, just days after their tie against Spennymoor was also called off due to a flooded pitch. The Bulls played just one home league match during December and no National League North games at Edgar Street in January. Ammonds said that only two of those postponements are due to the pitch problems and the remaining matches were off due to ‘biblical rain’. The Bulls chairman says that the club’s current financial position means that they can cover the financial shortfall. “Clearly not having home games and not having Saturday home games is going to have an impact on the club’s financial position and the income,” said Ammonds. “I think this is a lesson for us all, in terms of why it’s so important that you do have reserves that you can call upon in times like this. “If this had occurred two-and-a-half years ago, we could have had serious problems from a cashflow perspective because it’s publicly well known that we were short of money in the bank. “The good thing is at the moment, we have money to cover off this situation until we get the income back in, obviously the income is delayed. “Because the club is now in a stronger financial position we can ride out this kind of issue, without having to worry about how we’re going to pay for wages. “The drain renewal work that we’ve got planned for the summer, we’ve already now set the money aside to do that, because we know we have to. “Had we not got ourselves into a better financial position over the course of the last two years, we would probably be scratching around to work out how on earth we were going to pay for the work that’s needed. “We are in a position that we can deal with these problems, that are being sent our way at the moment.” Meanwhile, Hereford will head to Curzon Ashton on Saturday with at least one new face in their squad, after signing youngster Charlie Pavey on a month-long youth loan from Aston Villa. The Bulls then face Marine at home on Tuesday, February 3. Caddis said: “Charlie is a technically very good footballer and an intelligent player. “He is capable of scoring goals and will help create scoring opportunities for us. He will add energy and talent to the top end of the pitch and most importantly brings a freshness to us, during what’s going to be a really tough period physically with so many games still to play. “Bringing in players from full-time environments is important to allow us as a group to be as physically prepared as possible in the coming weeks.”
