Hereford confirm departure of Sterling-James and another

The Bulls confirmed this week that Omari Sterling-James has signed for non-league step-three side Hednesford Town for an ‘undisclosed fee’. The club said: “We would like to thank Omari for his efforts while at Hereford FC and wish him the best of luck for the future.” Meanwhile, Sterling-James took to social media to thank the club’s fans. He said: “To all the supporters and everyone involved in the club, I’d like to thank for you welcoming me warm heartedly and showing continued support throughout my time here. I’ve enjoyed it overall, hearing and seeing the passion you all bring to Edgar Street is unbelievable “To the players staff and especially the manager who has been excellent with me since the day I arrived until I left, no arguments, just two honest human beings with respect for each other. “I wish you all the best this season and will hope 2026 brings that positive energy back.” Previously Hereford boss Paul Caddis said that the midfielder had the opportunity to “almost double his money” at a club at a low level. Caddis said that the club had previously rejected an offer and Andrew Reed, director of football at Hednesford Town, said that he was aware that Sterling-James wanted to leave Hereford. He said: “When I got the call saying Omari was available and looking to get out at Hereford we wanted to jump on it. “Obviously losing Jermaine (Hylton) left us short in that type of wide man and with Omari’s numbers this season being in the top five for assists and expected assists in the league above it was a great option. “I was surprised to hear he wanted to move on as Hereford is a big club with a great fan base but when we get an opportunity to get a player like Omari we need to act.” Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Sam Osborne has been recalled from his season-long loan spell by parent club Alfreton Town and could play against the Bulls this weekend. However, Caddis said he is trying to get Osborne back on loan. Following Hereford’s draw against Merthyr Town, he said: “I’ve made it aware I want to keep him. “We’ve tried to structure a deal, but sadly it’s not been one that we can quite push through. “I won’t stop trying, put it that way. I won’t stop trying. So, as it stands, that was his last game.”
