Hereford FC Women strike three late goals in derby victory

The Bullettes opened the scoring four minutes before the interval when Maisie Evans beat Pegasus goalkeeper Kaysie Dudley to the ball and net from close range. Peagsus had enjoyed their fair share of possession during the opening 45 minutes but lacked the necessary cutting edge in attack to trouble Hannah Pritchard in the visitors’ goal. The lead was doubled six minutes after the interval when former Hay St Mary’s forward Alisha Herdman steered a Sheree Smith cross from the right past Dudley at the near post. Two injuries to home players during the second half of the derby meant that there were over 10 minutes of stoppage-time played before the final whistle sounded. Smith netted Hereford FC’s third goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute before Tianna Chant extended the advantage with a diving header at the far post six minutes later. The visitors completed the scoring in the 10th minute of stoppage-time when Smith beat Emily Morgan, who had replaced the injured Dudley in goal during the second-half, to a cross from the right to net her second goal of the afternoon. The result means that Hereford FC consolidated fourth position in the table, with games in hand on the teams above them, whilst Pegasus are still searching for their first league win of the season. The only game played in the Herefordshire Women’s League saw Belmont Wanderers Ladies beat Hereford Lads Club Youth Ladies 2-1.
