Hereford ‘move on’ from potential Sam Osborne deal

The 27-year-old was recalled from a season-long loan by parent club Alfreton Town following a break clause in the deal in January. After scoring seven goals during 24 appearances in the first half of the season Hereford wanted to get the midfielder back at Edgar Street. However, boss Paul Caddis said that the Nottingham-raised midfielder was unwilling to sign a long-term contract with the club. Following Hereford’s defeat against AFC Fylde on penalties, Caddis said: “Sam Osborne we really like, we’ve met the evaluation but. Sam won’t sign a longer-term contract, so we’ve moved on from that. “Sam wanted to come back and work with the staff that are here and enjoyed his time he. He can’t commit to a longer term in terms of the distance and the unknown of next year as well.” Jaiden White’s loan at the club is also due to end ‘in the next week’ and Caddis said he is in discussion with Sutton United ‘to do something’ about an extension. Meanwhile, the Bulls are set to miss Madou Cisse for a couple of weeks due to a ‘Grade four issue’. Hereford were left with just four substitutes – including play/assistant manager Adam Rooney – for their FA Trophy tie against AFC Fylde. Caddis highlighted that new signings would have been unable to play in the competition if they had already played with another club. He added: “The problem with this fixture is most players that we can attract have all play in this competition. It’s really difficult. “I did say probably two or three weeks ago that there would be a lot of changes, whether people believe it or not. “I can only tell you the truth and those changes have happened. We’ve lost six or seven. “We’ve got finances there available to go and try and get the right player for the club. We’re not going to just stop throwing money at it, we’ve got to be to be sensible with it. “We’ve got to be clever with it, we’re trying to get more players in.”
