The 33-year-old, who owns a business called ‘Bill Rolls Ceramics’ in Herefordshire, also volunteers as a teaching assistant and has joined the line-up for the 2026 series. TASK ONE (Image: Channel 4/Pottery Throwdown) Contestants kick started their potters journey with making a soup set. With the first task, the potters usually describe a story and in this case it was about the perfect winter evening. Hereford potter stars on Channel 4’s Great Pottery Throw Down Bill chose a design covered in biscuits with his tureen sitting on piles of books, with a knob on top of his design in the shape of an armchair. Bill described how each section meant something to him: “My cosy night in is biscuits, watching films, reading books and just sitting in my lazy boy with a giant cup of tea.” TASK TWO The second challenge saw all twelve build a beautiful jar with a gallery; a specially crafted rim that holds a lid securely in place. They had to correctly make multiple jars that would fit a lid they had not seen. Bill impressed the judges with only one of his six being thrown away. STAR POTTER Angharad’s ‘From Countryside To Coast’ won best soup set. Herefordshire’s Bill was placed 6/12.
