Legendary Man versus Horse race entries to open in a little over a week

Runners and riders will be able to sign up for the popular race from 10am on Saturday, January 10. The race takes place on the second Saturday in June and this year’s date is June 13. A post on the Welsh Man Vs Horse Facebook page on December 27 read: “We hope you have all had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas. “Once all the drink is gone and food is eaten, remember to sign up to 2026’s Man v Horse when entries open on the 10th of January. “A few more reasons to sign up if you’re still not convinced: For 2026 we have a new route – so even if you have done MvH before, you haven’t done THIS MvH. “This coming year we have a change of sponsor (more info on that later). “As you already know, we have opened our entries up to elite horses. Riders must justify why they should have an entry and what makes them elite. Runners this year will have a little more heat on them to beat the horse. “So enjoy the celebrations and relaxation before you get into a different spirit to train for one of the most unique races that has become international.” Race organisers Green Events confirmed official announcements and news going forward will only feature on this page. Green Events said in August 2025 that it was looking for a new sponsor for the race, after it was announced it had ended its long-standing association with Whole Earth. August was also a sad month for Man vs Horse, as news unfolded that Gordon Green – the iconic figure behind the race’s origins – had died, after a short illness. Mr Green, who was 90, died on August 22. He was known for reinventing tourism in the small Powys town of Llanwrtyd, by making it internationally renowned for its weird and wacky events, from snorkelling in a bog to wife carrying and stone skimming.
