The 21 libraries in the county are all members of the Warm Welcome Network, providing a safe haven for those in need of warmth and practical help. They will offer books, newspapers, computers, Wi-Fi, and study areas, as well as various activities like reading groups, language cafes, Bounce & Rhyme, Lego clubs, chess groups, and reminiscence sessions. Support with job searches, CV writing, digital skills, and starting a business is also on offer. One library customer said: “The library is a safe, warm, and child-friendly space where we can relax, bump into friends, and enjoy a drink. It is an invaluable service for us.” Another added: “The library has been a safe haven for me, it has increased my mental health as staff always have time for a conversation and sometimes that is just what gets you through the day.” Councillor Ian Cresswell, cabinet member with responsibility for environment and communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Libraries are a vital part of our communities, especially during the winter months. “Whether you’re looking for information, a friendly face, or simply a safe place to spend time, our libraries are here for you.” For more details on library events and activities this winter, visit Worcestershire County Council’s website.
