Peter Mark Cary, 72 died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash on the B4362 in Walton, near Presteigne on Tuesday, November 4. Mr Cary, who lived in Walton, had been struck by a white coloured Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. Emergency services tried to save his life by administering CPR, but he died at the scene at 6pm. His Majesty’s Area Coroner, Graeme Hughes, officially opened the inquest into the pensioner’s death on Wednesday, November 19, stating that following a post mortem the provisional cause of death was “road traffic incident pedestrian leading to multiple injuries”. The inquest was adjourned for further investigations to take place into the circumstances leading to Mr Cary’s death. Closing the hearing, the coroner passed on his condolences to Mr Cary’s family and friends. Dyfed-Powys Police made a public appeal for information, including anyone who was travelling along the road at the time with dashcam footage.
