Prince speaks out after visit to Herefordshire farm

​The Prince of Wales met farmers Laura and John Bowler at their 190-acre farm in Much Cowarne, along with Sam Stables, a founder of the charity We Are Farming Minds, which the prince is a patron of. A post published on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ account after the visit said: “Visiting Herefordshire today to discuss farmers’ mental health. “Proud to be Patron of We Are Farming Minds and to see its impact firsthand in the farming community. “Farmers contend with multiple external pressures and considerable uncertainty, which makes supporting their mental health and wellbeing so important. “Thank you to our hosts John and Laura for sharing their stories.” Read more: Speaking at the visit, Mr Stables said calls to the charity for support have more than doubled in the last 12 months as farmers face issues surrounding inheritance tax and rising costs. He said the support of the prince has been “incredible”, adding that he’s “very much aware of everything going on.” Speaking of the prince’s patronage, he said: “He’s an amazing man, he’s incredible to speak to. “He’s incredibly empathetic, he worries about people and is a genuine, decent person, so everything he does to help us is immense and massively appreciated.” He added: “It’s an honour that he is incredibly passionate about the countryside and farmers and for me to have him as patron, we couldn’t want for anything more.”
