Pub closes door just eight months after reopening

The Hereford stalwart put the announcement on their social media page saying that with a ” heavy heart” and due to mounting costs and falling trade they were closing up. The landlords added on December 15 : “Despite doing everything we could to keep going, it is no longer sustainable for us to remain open.” The Volunteer Inn described itself as warm and welcoming, community led and a dog-friendly pub. It was only back in March this year that it revealed a £225,000 refurbishment makeover The Heineken-owned pub was taken over by licensee Suzie Tortalino in 2023, after having been previously “closed and boarded up”. Situated on Harold Street the pub also had a beer garden and a function room. According to Bartonsham History Group, the first record of a public house on the site was in 1837. LeisurePubs and bars
