On Tuesday, October 21, the care home in Ross-on-Wye marked the start of the ‘festival of lights’ by making patterned rangoli and lighting ‘diyas’ – small oil lamps symbolising the triumph of good over evil. The head chef prepared traditional Indian dishes, which included curries, samosas, bhajis, and sweets such as laddoo and barfi. Agda-Claudia Vasilateanu, general manager at Ross Court, said: “To celebrate Diwali at the home was fantastic, the colourful glow of the lamps created a very wonderful atmosphere and our chef made the most delicious dishes – everyone had a fantastic time.” Ross Court is run by Barchester Healthcare, and provides residential care and respite care.
