The Mariners came into the tie have lost just three of their 36 league games – their last league defeat coming in December (16 games unbeaten) The buoyant visitors started on the front foot with Jack Roles sending an effort wide, before Daniel Dodds had a shot blocked. However, the Bulls have also been in good form under new boss Aaron Downes and Nottingham Forest loanee Cormac Daly showed his talent, before his effort was blocked. Former Cheltenham midfielder Sohna showed his warning signs on the 31st minute, but curled his effort narrowly wide. South Shields were looking to maintain their title charge and marksman Paul Blackett had an effort deflected, before Roles headed wide when placed in a fantastic position. Hereford goalkeeper Theo Richardson had to be alert to the South Shields threat and pulled off a fine save to deny Blackett a 50th minute opener. The Bulls were also looking dangerous at the opposite end and the previous game’s hat-trick hero Munday fired an effort wide three minutes later. Defender Kyle Howkins was next to test the Mariners’ goal after connected with a Sohna free-kick, but his effort was comfortably saved. It was the Bulls who took a 65th minute lead with a spectacular Sohna goal after picking the ball up 20 yards out and sending a curling shot past goalkeeper Watson and into the top corner. South Shields looked for an immediate response and a low free-kick was directed towards goal by Blackett, only for Richardson to deny his effort. Sohna repeated his trick on 75 minutes with a beautiful free-kick which gave goalkeeper Watson no chance as it crashed in to make it 2-0. Hereford goalkeeper Richardson played a crucial role in the win and seven minutes from time he pulled off a fine save to deny Will Jenkins. It took until the fourth minute of stoppage time for South Shields to find the net as Lennon Wheeldon scrambled the ball home inside the box. The Mariners threw everything at a dramatic winner and visiting goalkeeper Watson saw his header saved from a corner by Richardson. “It’s a great result for us, I’m delighted,” said Hereford boss Aaron Downes. “The players absolutely ran their socks off today. “What I’m demanding of them, they’re producing. I’m pleased for them, but more importantly that we can send people home after two unbelievable goals. “They’re (South Shield) a tough team to play against tactically because you have to get the balance right between being gun-ho and being left vulnerable at the back. “What it requires is people to really run, and that’s what our boys did today. We wanted to get after them and put them under pressure, in spells, and try and negate their game. “To run so hard, to work so hard and to sacrifice yourself takes a humility and it takes people to remove their ego. Everybody did that.” Hereford: Richardson; Skinner, Skinner (James 88), Howkins, Quansah, Hudson; Martin (Williams 86), Sohna,
