Officers headed to The Southend in Ledbury to carry out checks after speed data was analysed and concerns were raised through the community speed watch scheme. The operation on November 7 was timed to coincide with school pick-up, taking place between 3pm and 4pm in the 30 miles per hour zone. Three drivers were stopped for exceeding the speed limit, with recorded speeds of 37, 39, and 40 mph. Officers also issued words of advice and the enforcement was carried out to encourage safer driving behaviour and reduce risk to others. ALSO READ: This speed enforcement operation was carried out in direct response to community complaints, a police spokesperson said, adding that, with John Masefield High School located nearby, the risks are high especially during school pick-up times. “Speeding in this area isn’t just illegal, it’s potentially fatal,” police constable Elliot Crump warned. “We hope this action reassures the local community that their concerns have been acknowledged and addressed, with steps taken to enhance road safety. Similar enforcement efforts will continue in response to ongoing feedback.”
