The works in Hereford’s Holme Lacy Road were originally due to take place on November 10 but were then pushed back to this week. They have now been further delayed to November 24, with advance warning signs showing the new start date. A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said the delay “is due to some minor technical issues moving into the construction phase”. They added that there will be some pre-construction works taking place on site between now and November 24. Upgrades will be made to the stretch of Holme Lacy Road from Oak Crescent to the Thorn Business Park junction, with improvements including resurfaced carriageways, high-friction surfacing to moderate vehicle speed levels, and a new signalised junction at Holme Lacy Road, Chestnut Drive, and Hoarwithy Road to improve traffic management. A “shuttle working system” will also be created at the Holme Lacy railway bridge to ease congestion and create space for a wider footway. The council believes the scheme will not only provide more travel options for those who live and work in the city’s Enterprise Zone in Rotherwas, a “key location for employment and growth in the city.” “This scheme is a vital step in our long-term vision to create a more connected and prosperous Herefordshire.”
