Williams opened the scoring during a 3-2 victory at Worksop Town on Tuesday night, with Keziah Martin and Keenan Quansah netting the other goals. The 39-year-old says that Downes’ arrival has brought fresh energy and players to the Hereford side. “He’s freshened the group up with new players, his work ethics is incredible and I think that’s sort of reflected with the way we are on the pitch. “We’re doing a lot more. We’re doing Zoom calls on Friday nights and Monday evenings when we can, because obviously with the crazy amount of games we’ve got in short space of time, there’s limited stuff that we can do, especially on the training field. “’He’s maximized everything that we can to make sure we’re all equipped for the game and trusting us to look after our bodies as best we can. It’s been a breath of fresh of fresh air. “He’s brought in some real quality as well. They’re not just young players, they’re good players. How some of them aren’t playing a teams like Cheltenham I don’t know because for this level they’ve been brilliant for us so far.” The Bulls have found new confidence under Downes and almost had a first minute lead, but Martin glanced his header wide. Just three minutes later they were ahead. After capitalising on a moment of hesitation in the Worksop defence Williams controlled inside the box and then fired home. Worksop are still looking to edge clear of the relegation zone and Oli Greaves forced a flying save from Theo Richardson, to deny his curling free-kick. The Bulls doubled their lead on 23 minutes when Cormac Daly found Williams who laid off for Martin to net. Richardson was forced into another great save three minutes later to deny Liam Waldock who cut inside and fired at goal. The Bulls were in dreamland before the break with a third goal. Harrison Sohna’s cross at the back post who found the head of Quansah to score. Worksop made several changes at the break and made an immediate response in a bid to pull back into the game. Half-time substitute Lewis Whitham netted just three minutes into the second half after cutting inside and then firing a thunderous effort into the net. On the hour mark Hereford had the chance to seal the points. However, defender Kyle Howkins saw his header denied by a point blank save from Lewis Forshaw and then Lewis Hudson saw his rebound blocked. Worksop continued to search for a way back into the match and a corner into the six-yard box found Aaron Martin who could only guide his shot over the crossbar. Ten minutes from time the hosts had a second goal courtesy of Jay Rollins’ header at the back post, but his side failed to find an elusive equaliser at the death. Hereford: Richardson, Skinner, Quansah, Preston (Howkins 15), Hudson, Sohna (D’Ath 64), Daly (Donawa 64), Martin (James 85), Willcox, Tustin, Williams (Munday 55). Unused subs: Lane, Lewis.
